Welcome to Claremont!

Claremont was recognized by Money Magazine as the best small town in California to live. It is also one of the best places to visit. It has been described as “all pipe and tweed,” and the “City of Trees and PhDs”. With its tree-lined neighborhoods, six prestigious private colleges and quaint Village, it is one of the few places between Los Angeles and Palm Springs where you can still pop down to the post office to mail a letter, pick up a prescription at a local pharmacy, or grab a pastry at the Village bakery.

Claremont is home (in some cases, former home) to many acclaimed artists like Milford Zornes and Millard Sheets, heralded writers and music industry icons including David Lindley and Chris Darrow, Grammy winner Ben Harper, Oscar winner and Rain Man writer Barry Morrow, Survivor Emmy winner Terry Dwyer, famous actors and sports stars as well as the late management guru, Peter Drucker. The list continues when you include former Claremont College students Robin Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Robert Towne, Richard Chamberlain, and Twyla Tharp.

The unique boutiques, superb restaurants and an arthouse cinema make the Village an interesting destination with its hidden back alleys and stairways. There are great restaurants and bakeries including old-time favorites like Walter’s, Village Grille, and Some Crust Bakery. There’s also authentic Spanish tapas at Viva Madrid, and fine Italian at Tutti Mangia. Three Forks Chop House, located in the Packing House, is ranked among the best in Southern California. French bakery Le Pain Quotidien, and the Hip Kitty Jazz Club are popular newcomers to the Village scene.

You can catch the latest independent film at the Laemmle Theater, a play at the Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theatre, or visit the Claremont Museum of Art.

There is always something Interesting going on in Claremont Village.
We invite you to enjoy the experience.
